Snow Penis Obscenity

Pee Wee Herman may have been looking at child pornography, but should that really result in an obscenity charge?  I understand and agree that having child porn is not acceptable I just don’t find the justification in this charge.  I guess I feel that obscenity should be something that is exposed in public, or in front of others.  If they wanted to charge him they should have looked for evidence of molestation.  Another point is that I feel from his direct actions (that they had evidence of) were not harmful or exposed to anyone beside himself.

Another case I found via the Internet actually made me laugh.  Two men were being charged with obscenity because they built a snow sculpture of a penis.  This is something that was public, and I agree is unacceptable to expose to anyone who is passing by.  This is exposing children to images that are unacceptable.  I feel this is justifiably charged because it was done publicly.

My other point for this though is that people may not understand the outcome of some actions.  I feel as though they should have had a warning and they would have had to destruct the sculpture.  If they again made the same actions or did something of equivalent indecency they would be justified in a charge at that point.

You seem to have a moralistic perspective on things, and through your writings on such matters of what is vs is not obscene, pornorgraphic, right/wrong… sound as if you are struggling to come to to terms with such issues within your self… I envy your dilemma and female identity in a way, yet can not agree on how you come to your conclusions… eg since when has a penis, or image of become unacceptable (and to whom) ? …. there have been and still are societies/cultures (thankfully) that raise their children in openess and not secrecy — though the conformists are managing to “wipe-them-out” systematically — where children and adults can be nude (as in natural) without being crude… and where pornography does not predominate the suppressed’s thinking, as seems to be in much of so-called Western/modern/civilised culture… if you ever have the opportunity to live in a more open/natural society (as opposed to “normal”) you may discover something incredibly beautiful and natural about nakedness an openness… not “Normal” secretive, covered, hidden, suppressed… and in such societies, that I am familiar with…. child abuse and sexual-exploitation were not common nor tolerated, for many, such did not exist… so enjoy your opportunities to be “open” to be “exposed” to be “natural” be it in your sexual/personal self-expression (rather than suppression -> depression), or the rare opportunities to “Be naked” and “free” in the great outdoors… the Natural world… don’t be prudish, and have bloody great day…
